With the summer heat affecting the oils and texture of my skin, I have been trying out a few new makeup products to meet these changing needs. After a long trial and error process, I have finally found a new routine that works for me, and, because I have been loving these products so much, I wanted to share some of my newest additions with you. For the daytime, I prefer to follow a “less is more mentality,” but for an evening out with friends or a date night I still prefer a full face of make up.
Here is my new routine in the order I use each product!
Step 1- Moisturizer
I tend to have dry skin, so I always start off with a moisturizer. This Tula moisturizer is light weight and not greasy, so I use it for both day and night.
Step 2- Sunblock
I will admit I didn’t always use sunblock on my face, but, as I’ve gotten older, it has become a must in my skincare regiment, which is why I always use the Tula sunscreen when I am away from the shade.
Step 3- Primer
This Tula primer will even out your skin tone, while giving you a filter like finish. At this point in the routine, you could call it a day and still have protected and fresh looking skin!
I was on the hunt for a new foundation for a few months before I found the one that works for me. I had heard about the Armani Luminous Silk foundation in the past, but I had been intimidated by the word “luminous,” which, to me, implied a shiny and greasy finish. However, I still decided to trust the reviews and give it a try, which is one of the best makeup risks I have ever taken. When I tell you that this is the best foundation I have ever used, I mean it. It is light weight, goes on smoothly, and gives your skin natural-looking airbrushed finish.
Step 5- Concealer
In the past, I had used the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, but as I got older I noticed it settling in my fine lines. Thankfully, I found the Creaseless Concealer by tarte, which goes on smoothly, covers my dark circles ,and does not settle in fine lines.
Step 6- Eyebrows
I have used the Anastasia of Every Hills Brow Wiz for as long as I can remember. However, when disaster struck and I ran out of product on vacation, I had to find a new option to save my makeup look, which is where I came across the Charlotte Tilbury Brow Cheat. This pencil is a combination of wax and powder to give you a natural finish that mimics real-life hair.
Step 7- Eyes
I have been a fan of Tarte eyeshadow palettes for a while now, and, although my go to option is the In Bloom palette, I have been using the soft pinks and hints of shimmer in the Glamazon Palette during the summer.
Step 8- Primer
In my opinion, the eyelash primer step can be optional, as I didn’t incorporate it into my routine until about a year ago. I had seen a beauty influencer on YouTube raving about the Lancome Vitamin-Infused Mascara Primer, and, since I had a sample in my drawer, I decided to give it a try. Since, then I haven’t looked back, for although it isn’t necessary, a quick coat of primer can instantly lift and volumize your lashes.
Step 9- Mascara
If you’re looking for a mascara that gives your lashes volume, length, fullness, curls, lasts all day, and doesn’t flake or smudge, then this Lights Camera Lashes Mascara is for you! Let’s just say that it is one of Tarte’s best sellers for a reason.
Step 10- Setting powder
This setting powder by Hourglass is another new product for me. It gives your skin an airbrushed finish, while preventing transfer and blurring pores and fine lines.
Step 11- Blush
This Tarte blush has almost 5,000 five star reviews because of it’s silky soft texture that blends seamlessly.
Step 12- Lips
With summer heat comes chapped lips, which is why this moisturizing lip gloss packed with vitamins is a must. It even has a slight pink tint and smells like refreshing coconut.
Hopefully breaking down my makeup routine has helped you find some new products to try. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or get the chance to try some of my favorites!
